SUE LATTA

Two-time grantee Sue Latta is a sculptor who creates visually poignant, skillfully executed artwork utilizing a variety of processes, including welding, woodworking, casting and photography. She has held over 20 solo exhibitions, and her work can be found in private and institutional collections throughout the United States and Canada. Sue owns The Sculpture Studio in Boise where she teaches welding, woodworking, and other 3-D disciplines. She is a lecturer at Boise State University.

In 2015, Sue was awarded funding through the Alexa Rose Foundation to attend a Residency at the Visual Studies Workshop in New York. In 2019 she received a second grant to purchase a compound miter saw.

"The exploration of materials and material possibility led me to breakthroughs in application that allow me to create artwork that is thought provoking and beautiful simply by drawing on the qualities inherent in the materials."
