ALEXA ROSE FELLOW

$25,000 CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT AWARD

The Alexa Rose Fellow is a merit-based award that recognizes significant past creative accomplishments and provides resources for accelerated development of an artist’s creative practice.

Creative work matters. Taking risks, mastering skills, and remaining dedicated to one’s artistic pursuit is what the Alexa Rose Foundation would like to recognize and encourage with this award celebrating highly creative individuals making an impact in Boise Valley’s community. 

 

It is an invitation to do something exceptional. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicant MUST be a full-time resident of Ada or Canyon County OR member of an Indigenous Boise Valley Tribe (who may reside elsewhere).

  • Applicant MUST be 18 years of age or older. 

  • Applicant MAY be a previous Alexa Rose grantee. 

  • Applicant MAY work in any discipline(s) including, but not limited to, performing, literary, film, visual or multimedia.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Established or mid-career artists who have made significant contributions to their creative field. Applicants should be currently active as makers, doers and creators in the artistic community, and demonstrate a continued interest in honing their creative voice. 

Applicants will be assessed on the following:

  1. Mastery of artistic medium, as evidenced in past work and letters of recommendation

  2. Strong creative voice, as evidenced in past work samples, letters of recommendation, and interview process

  3. Potential for creative growth, as shown in letters of recommendation and communicated in the interview process

HOW TO APPLY

Our Fellowship is a direct application process. Artists apply on their own behalf, with supplemental letters of recommendation from community members.  Apply using the online portal which will appear here Late Spring 2023.

 

A completed application consists of a cover letter, 1-3 letters of recommendation, a brief questionnaire, and access to work samples. 

TIMELINE

  • July-August: Artists submit applications for Fellowship consideration.Specific dates to be announced in April 2023.

  • Early September: Nominations are reviewed by the Alexa Rose Foundation Board.

  • Mid September: Up to five finalists are selected for in-person interviews conducted by Alexa Rose Foundation representatives (interview dates TBD). 

  • November: Fellow(s) are announced by the Alexa Rose Foundation Board. 

**Please note that The Foundation reserves the right to NOT make a selection if the Board feels that no applicant meets the intended criteria of the fellowship.**
