SEEKING A GENEROUS BEACON

For the 2026 Alexa Rose Fellow, the Foundation seeks to recognize a deeply rooted, inspired contributor to our community. Seeking a generous beacon, an Artist who changed the face of our artistic landscape, in a manner that is ownably and authentically ours—and perhaps offered a new entry point to the arts for thousands.

The artist’s practice invests in visual, performing, literary arts, or new forms.

The artist has created their work in Ada or Canyon County, and that work has reached a total audience of 50,000-100,000 people or more during any five-year stretch between 2010 and 2025.

The artist has established professional relationships with arts peers outside Idaho and often uses those connections to create opportunities for other local artists.

The artist regularly provides professional recommendations for others and their career features examples of doors opened for five or more local artists throughout their career;
-
The artist aligns aspects of their practice with local/regional community engagement, sharing their process and expertise with others outside their immediate sphere;

The artist offers thoughtful contributions to contemporary arts and to the field of artmaking at large;

Time and a financial investment could offer a turning point for the artist; and
-
The artist is a professional of strong character and integrity.
ELIGIBILITY
NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominees must be a full-time Resident of Ada or Canyon County or an Indigenous Boise Valley tribal member who may reside elsewhere, and be 25 years or older.

Nominees have built a career in any artistic discipline(s), including but not limited to performing, literary, film, visual, or new forms in Ada or Canyon County for a minimum of eight years;

Nominees may not be enrolled in a degree program, nor have assignments pending at the time of acceptance.

Nominees are eligible to accept taxable income in the United States. Merit-based selection does not take into consideration the financial capacity or financial needs of candidates. Previous and current funding from the Foundation is a point of pride and does not impact eligibility.

For the 2026 Alexa Rose Fellowship, a qualified anonymous community-based Nominating Committee submits nominations in October 2025, with notification of the selected Fellow no later than December 10th and the public announcement in early January.
